Let’s Talk Social Media: Coffee Cart Startup
“Wow, that is just so embarrassing,”… said every hateful, insecure person ever. And ya know what, I don’t give two craps what those people think and neither should you! When I first started a social media page for my coffee cart, I got asked “why would you do that, all you need is a website” and as someone who works in marketing, sadly that isn’t true.
Social media is such a great resource for small businesses to build a community and customers. While I honestly wish it could just not exist because it’s a pain in the butt to manage, sadly it does, and if you don’t have a social media page, I can guarantee your competitor does. The main reason I wanted to develop my name and logo as the very first step, was because I wanted to start a social media page and document the journey from basically day one. This way, I could help out other people on a similar path and I could build excitement and anticipation for my own launch. I highly recommend doing this for your business, too. Who cares if you only have 10 followers, that’s 10 people who are excited to support your business!
While I do have social media experience through my job, I was tired of taking social media so seriously. So, for Solstice Coffee I decided I wanted to be authentic and have some fun with it, which I think resonates better with viewers than some perfect, put-together person and brand. In one of my previous jobs, I took courses through One Peak Creative, who can teach you more about hooks and creating viral content— easier said than done, I know. The best way to start is to follow other people who are starting coffee carts and get some inspiration. Here are just a few of my favorites with links to their socials:
My advice to anyone wanting to start a business is just go for it, life is too short to care what people think!
